There is a problem with some
configurations where the
RealPlayer appears disabled. This
is can be caused by RealPlayer
defaulting to the wrong proxy
settings. Please check the
appropriate manual for your
version of Real Player for
information on adjusting proxy
settings:

Some versions of RealPlayer,
notably 11.1, have been observed
to not install the necessary
browser scripting support plugin
files. When this occurs, scripted
links such as the "press play
audio/video..." link in the
webcast auditorium as well as
other automated features fail to
function.
For official support regarding
this problem, please contact the
vendor of Real Player,
RealNetworks Inc. For a workaround
to this problem you may, at your
own risk, follow these steps
(assuming default install
locations on Windows XP):
- Copy C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\Netscape6\nppl3260.xpt
to C:\Program Files\Mozilla
Firefox\Components\
- Copy C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\Netscape6\nppl3260.dll
to C:\Program Files\Mozilla
Firefox\plugins\
- Restart Firefox

The latest version of
RealPlayer (v11) may not connect
properly to a webcast stream if
the client is behind a firewall
(corporate or private). In this
case you may see the player
cycling through
"loading-buffering-ready"
repeatedly but never connecting to
the webcast stream.
For a workaround to this
problem follow these steps:
- Open RealPlayer 11
- Click on the Tools menu and
choose Preferences to open the
Preferences dialog box
- In the Category pane click
on Connection
- Under Connection click on
Network Transports
- Check the "Manually
configure connection
settings" check box
- Click the RTSP Settings
button
- Clear the top 3 boxes and
make sure the "Attempt to
use HTTP for all content"
check box is selected
- Click OK to close the RTSP
Settings box
- Click the PNA Settings
button
- Clear the top 3 boxes and
make sure the "Attempt to
use HTTP for all content"
check box is selected
- Click OK to close the PNA
Settings box
- Click OK to close the
Preferences box
- Try to connect to the
webcast again
